About the Position
Position Description
The purpose of the Norton Christian Church is revealed in the New Testament; to bring people to faith in Jesus Christ by guiding them to a genuine faith in God and helping them grow in grace as they learn to walk with the Holy Spirit. To pour into others, helping them find their calling and to work for the unity of all who have pledged their love and loyalty to Christ, engaging in the common task of building the Kingdom of God. The purpose is to minister the members of the Norton Christian Church and surrounding communities to achieve the above purpose. Every action and program should be focused toward effectiveness by the standard of this stated purpose and leadership in ministering to and mentoring youth.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Faithful member of the Lord's church Degree in Bible or counseling from a Christian university or preaching school
- OR has completed credits towards a degree in youth ministry or a related Bible program and is currently enrolled in classes to complete the degree program
- Proven involvement in planning, preparing, and leading youth group events
- Broad experience in the responsibilities of a local congregation
- Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing as well as the ability to incorporate technology into responsibilities
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide Biblically sound instruction in Bible classes and other settings
- Facilitate Christ-centered fellowship and involvement of youth with one another and with the broader congregation for the purposes of relational and spiritual development and service to others
- Manage and account for resources allocated in an ethical and prudent manner Involve parents in the development of the youth
- Preach periodically as the Elders direct
- Work effectively with the staff, leadership, congregation, and the community
- Be an available, visible, and active member of the NCC family and surrounding communities.
EXPECTATIONS:
- As applicable, spend regular and quality time with his/her family.
- Be a leader and model for the congregation in how they treat their spouse and children, and how they are a spiritual leader of their home.
- He/She should expect the Elders of the congregation to hold him/her accountable for this priority and encourage them to do the same.
- Be accountable to the Elders and Senior Minister of the congregation for the purpose, vision, and function of his/her ministry.
- A biannual performance review is completed by the elders.
- Growth: expected to read, study, and find growth opportunities in an ever-increasing effort to improve in the depth and spectrum of his/her spiritual life and ministry.
- Be mentored and held accountable in this growth by the Elders of the congregation and encourage them in doing the same.
SPECIFIC DUTIES: TEEN MINISTRY
- Give special emphasis to preteens and teens in his/her youth ministry.
- Activities here can include the following:
- call on teens for salvation and relationship purposes
- attend as many school/outside of church functions as possible that involve the youth of the community; coordinate and teach High School or Jr. High Sunday school class
- lead and develop volunteer leaders for High School and Jr. High youth groups; coordinate activities and trips that build a sense of community
- participate as an active member of the Lakeview Christian Camp and encourage all youth to attend.
- All ministers will strongly encourage youth to attend a Christian College and find opportunities to expose the teens to these campuses; work toward leading youth to positions of spiritual maturity and leadership; and consider it a priority to enable members of the congregation to share in the joys and responsibilities of this ministry.
- All ministers will make themselves available to teens and their families for counseling.

It fulfills the mission of the church as revealed in the New Testament (Matthew 28:19-20) An attitude of servanthood is displayed (Matthew 20:26-27) A positive attitude is demonstrated in all areas of the ministry (Philippians 4:8-9) An unselfish spirit evident to those he/she works with (Philippians 2:4-5) A genuine spirit is witnessed in his/her life and calling and presentation of Christ (Ephesians 5:15-21) He/She does his work enthusiastically (Romans 12:9-21) He/She becomes a reflection of Christ and His love (Romans 12:9-21)
