We are a 50 year old congregation in the City of Olathe Kansas with a mission statement of, "We Are Family, Helping People Follow Jesus." Olathe is a suburb of Kansas City with a mixture of new homes, established residences, young families, and retirees. The city is also experiencing growing ethnic diversity creating new opportunities for our church. We are looking for a Senior Pastor who loves studying and preaching from the Bible, is excited to work with existing staff and elders, and is ready to be a servant-leader in our church. Organizational Relationship and Supervision: Following the model of the New Testament church in Acts, we are an elder led church. The Senior Pastor will report to the Elder Board. The elders will provide a 90-day review post hire, and an annual evaluation thereafter, of the Senior Pastor's performance. The Senior Pastor performance will be subject to the Staff Handbook.

This position exists for the purpose of helping the mission of Olathe Christian Church move forward. This will be possible through: Teaching God's Word to the congregation in a way that is engaging and encourages them in their faith journey, and calls them to read and study the Bible beyond Sunday Morning. Teach/mentor others how to understand, discern, and teach God's Word. Disciple and shepherd the congregation to discover, mature, and use their spiritual gifts. Working closely with the elders to execute the vision to reach the people of Olathe and surrounding area. Working closely with existing and new volunteers, enabling each person to also do the work of equipping, training, and leading the congregation.

Duties:

• Preach the Word.
• Working with the elders to visit members in the hospital and in their homes and pray for them through troubled times.
• Work with church staff to plan Sunday morning services and other weekly events.
• Ensure visitors are welcome, contacted for follow-up, and encouraged to return.
• Champion congregational participation in Home Groups and Discipleship classes/groups as avenues for the congregation to mature in their faith.
• Ministry Support:
  • Lead staff meetings once a week.
  • Assist ministry leaders as needed.
  • Assist Pastoral Staff as needed.
  • Assist Deacons as needed.
  • Assist Elders as needed.

Qualifications:

• Baptized believer in Jesus Christ Belief that the Bible is true and just as applicable to today's church as it was to the first century church Independent Christian Church background
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Compassionate with a heart for missions, discipleship, and relationship building
• Biblical training through a Bible College, Seminary, or equivalent.
