About the Position

Position Description

Position Title: Events Assistant
Department: Advancement
Reports to: Director of Events

The mission of the Events, Resources, and Hospitality Team is to strengthen partnerships by providing events, communications, and resources for individuals, churches, and organizations. Institutional Goals supported by Department: IG 4, 5

*This position is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA), will be required to participate in CSA training, and is required to immediately forward all reports of Clery Act crimes brought to their attention to the Clery Compliance Officer. 

A. Summary

The primary function of this role will be to advance the college's mission through on-campus events. The ideal candidate must be experienced in customer service, assisting with event planning, team building, and project management.

B. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

· Managing registration for all on-campus events

· Communicating with guests about event details and assisting with check-in

· Tracking and reporting event registration income and merchandise sales from on-campus events

· Coordinating event logistics with the Events Team

· Assisting the Director in training student workers for the registration system

· Maintaining registration data for dashboard performance indicators

· Performing other duties as assigned

C. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities 

· Proficient in the use of a personal computer and Google Drive programs (i.e, Google Docs, Google Calendar, Google Forms, etc.)

· Able to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment

· Able to work through interruptions

· Collaborative team spirit

· Positive and optimistic approach to problem-solving

· Excellent customer service skills in person, over the phone, and via email

· Genuine desire to deal effectively and cooperatively with coworkers and the public

E. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

· High school diploma or equivalent

· One year of previous experience in customer service and/or office environments

This position is primarily in a professional office setting. This role requires the routine use of office equipment, including a photocopier, scanner, telephone system, and filing system. There is prolonged use of a computer while sitting at a desk. Must be able to focus and concentrate on the computer screen with precision. During events, additional work environments will be required. This role requires reaching, stooping, standing, kneeling, bending, twisting, and walking. There will be times of lifting during the event season. Assistance may be available, but the employee must be able to lift 20 pounds safely. During event season, this role requires additional work hours outside of the Monday through Friday work week.
