Sometimes we, followers of Jesus, make things a lot more complicated than they have to be. Our mission here at FCC is to lead people to Jesus, by growing in Jesus. It’s that simple. We ourselves have to be growing in Jesus before we can ever lead someone else to Jesus. Our philosophy for how we do this is based on Jesus’ last words to His early disciples before He ascended to Heaven and sat down at the right hand of the Father, recorded in Matthew 28:18-20.We are an autonomous Church, with no denominational ties to any group. However, we are affiliated with other Independent Christian Churches around the world. These sister-churches have an allegiance to the Bible and to King Jesus. There will be differences in policy, tradition and practices – however, for the most part there will be unity in beliefs.These Independent Christian Churches (some use the name “Church of Christ”) hold to a simple uniting plea of being “Christians only.” We don’t believe that we are “the only Christians – just Christians only.” We speak where the Bible speaks and are silent where the Bible is silent. Our desire is to “restore” God’s church to the way it was in the New Testament era. Hence, we are part of the “Restoration Movement.”

First Church of Christ in Atlantic Iowa is seeking to fill the position of lead pastor.First Church of Christ in Atlantic is located in a town of 7000 people set squarely halfway between Des Moines, Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska.We are an non-denominational, elder lead church in which the lead pastor is part of the eldership team and involved in the decision-making process.We are a young, vibrant, healthy, and growing church that God is blessing in avenues of both spiritual and numerical growth.We believe in teaching and preaching the whole truth of scripture according to God's instruction and interpretation.The lead pastors main roles are to help care for and Shepherd the flock at FCC, deliver Sunday morning sermons, and to actively go out and invite the lost to encounter Jesus in a real saving relationship.The ideal candidate would have a pastoral degree, be an energetic, self motivated outgoing person with good communication skills, and mostly a love for Jesus and people.
