About the Position

Position Description

Purpose: To lead a vibrant, gospel-centered children’s ministry (birth through 5th grade) that creates safe, engaging environments for children to encounter Jesus, equips parents as primary disciple-makers, and builds a strong volunteer team to support weekly ministry and special events.Ā
Core Calling: Discipleship from the Ground Up. This role exists to plant the seeds of faith in the lives of children. The Children’s Minister must have a heart for early discipleship—laying a foundation that is biblically sound, relationally strong, and aligned with the larger family ministry strategy. Parents and volunteers should be seen not as helpers, but as partners in the spiritual formation journey.Ā
Key Responsibilities: Sunday Ministry Leadership • Plan and oversee all Sunday morning children's programming (nursery–5th grade). • Ensure environments are safe, welcoming, age-appropriate, and centered on Scripture. • Lead and develop Sunday volunteer teams, including teachers, check-in volunteers, and room leaders. Volunteer Development • Recruit, train, and schedule volunteers across all age groups. • Foster a strong, mission-minded volunteer culture with regular encouragement and training. • Maintain volunteer communication and follow-up systems. Parent Partnership • Communicate regularly with parents to keep them informed and resourced. • Encourage and equip parents to disciple their children at home. • Support milestone events like baby dedication and 5th grade transition. Curriculum & Resources • Select and implement biblically sound curriculum for all age levels. • Adapt content to ensure clarity, engagement, and consistency across classrooms. • Prepare and organize weekly teaching materials and supplies. Collaboration & Teamwork • Work under the leadership of the Family Minister to align with the overall vision. • Collaborate with the Student Minister to create smooth age transitions and shared events. • Assist in planning and executing church-wide family events (VBS, family fun nights, etc.). Qualifications: • A growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a heart for discipling children. • Experience working in children’s ministry or early childhood education (preferred). • Ability to lead teams, communicate clearly, and manage logistics. • Strong organizational skills and attention to safety and detail. • Relational, energetic, dependable, and flexible. • Agreement with Canoe Creek’s doctrine, mission, and values
